KATHMANDU: A section of the Chure Bhawar Rastriya Ekta Party today declared that the party had scrapped the membership of party chairman Keshav Prasad Mainali.
Senior Vice President Shiva Prasad Tamang and General Secretary Bhumi Raj Niraula said at a press conference that a two-third majority of the party had decided to sack Mainali from the party.
They accused Mainali of drawing financial benefits from the ongoing prime ministerial race and working against the party’s policy and principles. General Secretary Niraula said a two-third majority of the party had sacked Mainali at the party’s central committee meeting.
Of 59-member central committee, 53 members made the decision to sack Mainali, according to Niraula.
Mainali, who is the only Constituent Assembly member from the party, said, “Neither they have a majority in their fold nor they have called any meeting of the party to make such a decision.”
He added, “A few days ago, the party had suspended Niraula for resorting to activities against the party’s interest. The news of sacking me is a propaganda.”
The party born just before the CA elections two years ago has split twice.
