Birendra Sainik wins Coca Cola Cup

Birendra Sainik School toiled hard to beat Shramik Shanti School 6-5 in a tie breaker after the match ended in 1-1 draw at Dashrath Stadium on Saturday, to win the title of the Coca Cola Cup Inter School Football Tournament.

In form striker Roshan Rai provided the playful lead to Sainik in the 31st minute but Shramik equalised in the second half.

Saroj Rana Magar scored an equaliser in the 55th minute.

After the stipulated time of 80 minutes, spot kick battle was invited.

Birendra Sainik´s goalkeeper saved two shots while Shramik Shanti´s custodian Kumar Gurung saved only one to give an advantage to their opponents as the score stood at 6-5.

The winner received Rs 200,000, the highest amount in school level football tournament in Nepal. The runners-up Shanti School had to be satisfied with Rs 100,000 as prize money.

In the ladies category, Jana Jyoti School defeated Radhika Higher Secondary School 4-0 to lift the title with the same Rs 200,000 cash bounty.
